Mentoring

Dixie Bloor Neighbourhood Centre has joined with three Peel community agencies, York and the City of Toronto under the initiative of the Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council (TRIEC) in creating a Mentoring Partnership geared towards the skilled immigrant.

The Mentoring Partnership creates matches between new immigrants (Mentees) with professionals (Mentors) in the same field. Duration of the match is up to 24 hours over a four-month period.

Mentors

Mentors are people who have combination of knowledge and business experience to bring wisdom as a guide to the learning process-of how to integrate effectively into the Canadian labour market.

OASIS Workshop

Information Interviews

Mentees

Must be unemployed and entitled to work in Canada
Work less than an average of 20 hrs per week and is seeking FT employment
Is in receipt of a notice of imminent lay-off
Must have CLB level 8 or higher English
Have worked at least 3 years in profession and no more than a 3-year break in this profession
Have gone already through job search preparation course
Would benefit from mentoring
