Orientation – Settlement Program

Our goal is to facilitate a smooth integration for newcomers of all ages to support their full participation in all aspects of life in Ontario and Canada, the Canadian Education system, and knowing your rights and responsibilities. We provide FREE information services and resources in different languages:

Settlement Program assists clients with:

  • Orientation to life in Ontario and Canada
  • Applying for Child Benefits, EI benefits, Birth Certificates, Name change, Ontario Works and ODSP
  • Find a physician, apply for Health card, Drivers License
  • Canada Pension Plan (CPP), Old Age Security(OAS) / Guarantee Income Supplement (GIS)
  • Assistance in reviewing IRCC forms (citizenship, PR renewal, student/work permit renewals, visitor visa extensions, PR for protected persons)
  • Preparing and certifying Invitation letters, Consent letters, life certificates
  • Victims of Abuse and Transition Support referrals
  • Referrals to Employment, English Classes (LINC), Citizenship Classes, Programs for Youth, Children and Seniors
  • Referrals to other service providers and government agencies in the area
  • Information about rights and responsibilities
  • Solution-focused Counselling
  • Workshops/Information sessions on latest topics related to settlement
  • Advocating services with community and/or government agencies
  • Translation of documents related to settlement and education purposes (no translation of legal and medical documents)
  • Commissioner of Oath services for licensing exams, true copies and statutory declarations.

Specialized services:

Provides information, referrals, support and advocacy to help individuals living with any kind of disability.

WHS focus on providing newcomers, families, individuals, and refugees, with the necessary supports to manage their new life in Canada.

File income tax for eligible clients by appointment year round.

  • Assisting individuals or families in securing and maintaining stable housing
  • Assessing clients’ housing needs, providing support in navigating housing resources
  • Address any challenges related to housing stability
  • Collaborate with community organizations, social services, and other stakeholders to ensure comprehensive support for clients
